I have been a high
school marine studies teacher for 30 years, I have a degree (BA - UNSW) and a
masters degree ( M.Ed. - Deakin Uni) - I am also a Sailing Master (AYF), Power
Boat Instructor (AYF), First Aid Instructor (St. Johns Ambulance), Radio
Invigilator (OMC), Skin Diving Instructor (NAUI), Master Diver (NAUI) and
Department of Transport Restricted Coxswain.
I am a member of
the Marine Teachers Association of Queensland, having occupied the positions of
President, Secretary and Regional Representative. I have received awards from
the Minister of Education for Excellence in Sport (1999 - won Australian Title
for school Teams Racing/Sailing as coach/manager) and for Services to Education
(2004 - part of the team that wrote the new Coast and Marine Education
syllabus).
